This notice explains the cookies and local browser storage used when you visit govll.org. It should be read with our privacy notice.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on a device by a website. Similar browser storage can remember information without using a cookie. Some technologies are strictly necessary to deliver a service or keep it secure; optional technologies normally require a choice before they are used.
What govll.org uses
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| pw495s | Strictly necessary cookie | ProcessWire session cookie used to operate the website, protect forms and maintain a secure session. It is HTTP-only and SameSite=Lax. | Browser session |
| govll_legal_notice_v1 | Strictly necessary local storage | Records that this browser has acknowledged the first-visit privacy and terms notice so it is not shown on every page. | Until browser storage is cleared or the notice version changes |
| Cloudflare security technology | Strictly necessary, when activated | Cloudflare may set a security cookie or use similar technology when needed to identify malicious traffic, verify a request or protect availability. | Varies according to the security check |
Website statistics do not use an analytics cookie
The web server records ordinary request data when it delivers a page, including IP address, time, requested host and path, response information, referrer and browser user-agent. The Royal Office of Digital Infrastructure (RODI) processes these logs into aggregate operational statistics displayed on the protected stats.govll.org service. This happens on the server and does not place an analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookie on your device. Request records are combined into aggregate totals rather than used to create named visitor profiles. The aggregate dashboard is not designed to reveal an individual’s browsing history; confidential raw logs remain available only to authorised personnel for a short period when required for security, fault investigation or law. Full details, including purposes and retention, are in the privacy notice.
Optional cookies
We do not currently use optional advertising, behavioural or audience-analytics cookies on govll.org. If that changes, we will update this notice and, where required, ask for a choice before placing them. Refusing an optional cookie would not prevent access to the public website.
Managing cookies and storage
You can delete or block cookies and clear local storage in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie may prevent forms, sign-in or other secure functions from working. Clearing govll_legal_notice_v1 will cause the first-visit notice to appear again.
